The Frogs by Stephen Sondheim
1974, Yale Repertory Theatre, Yale University, Connecticut
1 hour, 46 minutes
This is a significant recording because of it’s extreme rarity, despite being a poor-fair quality fan shot.
The Frogs is a musical “freely adapted” by Stephen Sondheim and Burt Shevelove from The Frogs, an Ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes. In the musical, Dionysus, despairing of the quality of living dramatists, travels to Hades to bring George Bernard Shaw back from the dead. This is a performance from Yale Repertory Theatre from 1974, starring both Meryl Streep & Sigourney Weaver.
