Description

We saw and much enjoyed the final performance of La Grosse Valise is New York in 1965. On the way out of the 54th Street Theatre there was a 4-foot tall cardboard Eiffel Tower which I felt would simply be thrown out so I grabbed it and wrestled the thing home via the subway. I kept it in my apartment in New York City for many years, I wonder where the thing is now?

On 2-CDRs! The sequel to the popular La Plume De Ma Tante premiered in 1965 and was popular enough to transfer to Broadway with Harold Rome doing the English translation of the lyrics. And although members of the original cast came with the show from Paris (augmented with skilled actors such as Victor Spinetti) it was not successful and closed after seven performaces.

There was no recording of the American Cast but we finally found two EXCELLENT CONDITION LPs of the French Cast (transferred them to CD-Rs) and offer them here for you. The cast album features Liliane Montevecchi. It is a combination of song and French skethes. The other recording by the composer is all-instrumental and much more lively with a much larger orchestra.

We think collectors will enjoy this combination of CDRs very much indeed.
