Seven Little Foys (2012 New York Cast)
"The Seven Little Foys" is a new musical by ASCAP award-winner Chip Deffaa. A Fringe Festival hit!
Based on actual events, "The Seven Little Foys" is a heartwarming musical about a legendary entertainer who took his seven kids into show business after his wife died; they became the most popular family act in the country--an American institution. And while facing the hardships of life "on the road," they came to know the true meaning of family.
The story of "The Seven Little Foys" was told in a hit motion picture starring Bob Hope and James Cagney, and then again in a hit TV special starring Eddie Foy Jr. and members of the Osmond family. ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award-winner Chip Deffaa has written this new musical comedy--the very first stage adaptation of this enduringly popular story. A hit at the New York Fringe Festival, garnering terrific reviews, this musical also enjoyed a great six-week regional tryout.
It's a rousing family musical--and there aren't that many good family musicals around. The score mixes spirited new originals by Deffaa (such as "Struttin," "One More Christmas," and "Someday") with nostalgic favorites that were popularized by Eddie Foy and his famous family (such as "Moonlight Bay," "Chinatown, My Chinatown," "Row Row Row," and "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland").
