As a teenage protégé of Leonard Bernstein, Trés attended the Julliard School of Music when she was chosen by him to sing as the principal female soloist in one of the last Great Composers Series at Lincoln Center which he conducted her singing his tour de force 'GLITTER & BE GAY' from Candide!

She went on to perform in numerous musicals in the U.S. and abroad, including My Fair Lady (Eliza), Camelot (Guinevere), and The Fantasticks (Luisa). In the London revival of The Beggar’s Opera, she made history as the first “American” to play 'Polly Peachum' in Britain since the musical was first performed in 1728.
